EC Considering Reducing⬇ Voting Time by One Hour.

The Electoral Commission (EC) is considering the idea of reducing the voting time by one hour.

Currently, the voting duration is 10 hours from 7 am to 5 pm.

But the EC says it wants to reduce it by one hour from 7 am to 4 pm.

The move is to allow counting and collation before dark and the early declaration of results and ultimately reduce the tension and suspicion that manifests when the nation is waiting for the results of general elections.

The Chairperson of the Electoral Commission, Mrs Jean Mensa, announced this at a three-day international conference on election-related violence in Accra on Tuesday, September 10, 2019.

The conference, organised by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) secretariat, is to create a forum to discuss electoral violence in the West African sub-region and how to prevent and respond to it anywhere it occurs.
